The national label “Tourism and Disability” provides disabled people with reliable, homogenous and objective access information on tourist sites and equipment, for all four major disability categories (physical, visual, hearing and mental).
The Carcassonne Tourist Office has been awarded the following labels:
- physical disability,
- mental disability,
- hearing disability.

The Carcassonne Municipal Tourist Office has been committed to the “Tourism and Disability” label approach since 2006 to provide its customers with quality service and accessible equipment.

Actions for physical disability:

Development of a standardised parking space with protected route to the Tourist Office located nearby, accessibility to the structure, and adapted toilet.

Actions for mental disability:

Our brochures and posters are arranged in separate themes, easy to go through.

Actions for hearing disability:

Our premises (Medieval City and Bastide Saint Louis) offer a welcome pack for hard-of-hearing people made up of a rechargeable personal listening device (Comfort Duett), which amplifies the sound of a conversation, as well as a magnetic MP3 collar which reproduces the stereo sound of an MP3 player without loss for the hearing aid.

Actions in favour of visual impairment:

Presentation of the city in Braille and large print. Audio guides designed for accompanied partially sighted people.
